La mémoire adaptative est la conception défendue par James Nairne de l’Université Purdue selon laquelle les caractéristiques fonctionnelles de la mémoire ont été façonnées par les pressions sélectives auxquelles nos ancêtres ont été confrontées dans le passé ancestral. Je travaille au sein de ce domaine de recherche en me concentrant sur les effets animés en mémoire, sur l’impact de la contamination (peur des pathogènes) sur la mémorisation, ou encore sur les effets d’un « encodage de survie » en mémoire. Je m’intéresse aussi aux études normatives (e.g., collecte de normes pour des mots, des images). Auparavent, j’ai réalisé des recherches en psycholinguistique sur des thématiques comme la dénomination d’images ou la production de l’orthographe chez des adultes.
